The Georgia Sex Offender Registry is a post-release source only for people whose offenses require registration. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is the central repository. This system is not a county jail roster. It does not cover most released detainees, and absence from it does not prove that someone remains incarcerated or was never released. Use it only when the known conviction or court record indicates a registrable offense. For an ordinary Lamar County release, begin with the sheriff, court, GDC, or other custody agency.
Search Georgia Registry Records
Open the official GBI registry search. Search by the available name or location fields, then compare identifiers carefully. A similar name is not enough. Review the photograph where available, physical description, jurisdiction, offense information, and address or status fields shown by the official result.

Lamar Registry Update Timing
The Lamar sheriff-linked registry explanation says sheriffs update registry information within two working days and the registry updates daily. It also states that a person subject to registration must report to the sheriff within 72 hours after release from prison or placement on parole, supervised release, or probation. Those are reporting rules, not a promise that every public field changes at once.
A recent release may create timing differences among the jail record, GDC record, court order, supervision record, and registry. Check the source date. When an exact release must be proved, request the underlying release record from the custody agency rather than treating the registry update date as the release date.
Lamar Registry Field Meanings
Registry results are designed to show required public registration information, not a complete criminal case file. Read each field in context. The reporting jurisdiction identifies the agency responsible for updates. Offense information describes the basis for registration. A photograph can help distinguish records but may not reflect a person's current appearance.

For the final disposition, obtain the court record. For current state custody, use GDC. For parole, use the State Board and DCS. Each source controls a different part of the timeline.
Lamar Registry Versus Jail
The Lamar County Detention Center receives local arrestees and holds people pending bond, court action, local sentence service, or transfer. Its booking record can show that a person was arrested and later released. The registry begins from a separate legal duty tied to a qualifying case.
A person can be released from the jail without ever appearing in the registry. A registrant can also remain listed long after the original custody event. Therefore, a registry result does not show that the person was released recently, and no result does not answer whether a county booking ended.
Georgia Registry Supervision Differences
Registration is not the same as parole or probation. Parole is conditional release from a state prison sentence under the Parole Board. Felony probation is a court sentence supervised in the community through DCS. Local misdemeanor probation may use Judicial Alternatives. Registration is a separate reporting duty created by law for qualifying cases.
These systems can overlap. A released state prisoner may be on parole, report through DCS, and also have a registry duty. Another registrant may have completed supervision but remain subject to registration. Search each system only for the status it is built to show.

Use official sources and preserve dignity. Registry data is sensitive and can be misunderstood when detached from dates and case facts. Frame searches around release confirmation, notification, personal knowledge, court process, or reconnecting with someone. Verify material facts with the agency that created the record.
