ICE Detainee Release Records
ICE's Online Detainee Locator System is for current adult ICE custody and certain recent custody situations. It is not the Lamar County jail roster, GDC offender search, or BOP locator. Use it when a local record, detainer report, or known immigration case points to ICE.
A county release may actually be transfer to ICE. In that event, Lamar custody ends while federal immigration custody begins. The sheriff record confirms the local event. The ICE locator and immigration authorities address the next stage. Do not call that transfer a community release unless the receiving record supports it.
Search ICE Detainee Records
Open the official ICE Online Detainee Locator System. USA.gov explains two search routes. One uses the A-number and country of birth. The other uses name, country of birth, and date of birth. Enter the facts exactly and compare the result carefully.
- Choose A-number or biographical search.
- Enter the required identity fields.
- Check spelling and country of birth.
- Review the custody or facility result.
- Contact ICE or the facility when no result appears.
The locator does not replace a formal release record. For the county stage, use the Lamar County release guide. Ask the sheriff for transfer or detainer notation, then use ICE for current or recent immigration custody.
Lamar ICE Detainer Report
The Lamar County sheriff publishes a Criminal Alien Track and Report PDF. The researched report covers January 2, 2025, through January 2, 2026. It lists period counts for arrested persons, undocumented-alien entries, detainers issued, current population figures, and named entries.
This is a local transparency report, not a live ICE roster. A name or count in the report should be read within its report period. It does not prove current ICE custody or community release. Pair it with the sheriff inmate record, the ICE locator, and any court or immigration information that applies.
ICE Release Status Meanings
Several events can look like “release” in a fragmented record. Lamar County may release the person to ICE. ICE may transfer the person to another detention site. ICE may release the person from its custody under immigration procedures. A court order can also change detention. Each event has a separate date and authority.

Label the agency beside each date. That prevents a county-jail exit from being mistaken for release from immigration custody.
ICE Locator Search Limits
The locator focuses on adults in ICE custody and certain recent records. A missing result may reflect spelling, name order, country-of-birth entry, the age or scope of the record, transfer timing, or custody under another authority. It does not prove that the person was never detained.
The A-number is often the strongest search key. Enter it in the format requested by the locator. When searching by name, try the legal form shown on official papers and verify the date and country fields. If the person is a minor or the public locator does not resolve the question, use official ICE contact routes.
ICE Versus Federal BOP
ICE detention is civil immigration custody. BOP generally tracks people serving federal criminal sentences. The U.S. Marshals Service can hold federal criminal defendants before sentence. These federal systems are different even though each is national in scope.
A BOP result showing released does not answer whether ICE later took custody. An ICE locator result does not prove a BOP sentence. Check the type of court, warrant, detainer, and agency named in the records. The correct locator follows the legal authority, not merely the word “federal.”
ICE Versus Georgia Custody
Lamar County Detention Center documents local booking and release. GDC documents Georgia state prison custody. DCS handles state parole and felony probation in the community. ICE handles immigration detention. A person may move through more than one of these systems.
For a state sentence, first establish the GDC release or transfer. For a local booking, obtain the sheriff's release reason. If either record names ICE, continue with the locator. Do not keep searching a current county roster after the person has transferred away.
Request Lamar Detainer Records
Ask the Lamar County Sheriff's Office for the inmate information sheet, release date and time, release reason, detainer notation, and transfer destination that can be released. Include the full name, date of birth if known, arrest date, and warrant or case number.

ICE Court Record Context
Immigration custody questions may require immigration case records or legal assistance beyond a public locator. The locator shows custody information, not a full case history or legal ruling. A federal criminal docket also does not replace an immigration record.
Keep the search factual. Record the exact agency, facility, date, and status shown. Ask which office created the document when terms are unclear. “Detainer issued,” “transferred,” and “released” describe different actions and should not be merged.
Confirm an ICE Release
For a recent ICE release, save the locator result and contact the facility or ICE through official channels when exact proof is needed. Then check whether another court order, supervision duty, or custody authority follows. A person can leave ICE custody while another legal process remains active.
For personal safety or urgent notification, do not rely on a stale screenshot. Public systems can lag. Use the current official locator and direct agency confirmation. The Lamar sheriff report supplies local context, but ICE controls its own custody record.
Keep a written search log with the date, spelling used, A-number if known, result, and office contacted. That makes it easier to spot a transfer or update without confusing two people. Save any official confirmation with the log. If language access is needed, use the official federal contact route and ask what assistance is available.
